Frequently Asked Questions
coverups / working on tattoos done by another artist / fixing poor tattoos
When submitting for a cover up please include a photo of your existing tattoo you would like to cover. If your tattoo is very faded there is a good chance it can be easily covered. Please be aware that there are limitations with coverup work. Black and gray tattoos will NOT work as a cover up in most cases. Light colors such as yellow, pink and light blue will not cover black in the long term. If you have seen cover ups done with light over dark online, i can assure you that the tattoo was just done and the blacks/darker colors will start to show through as the tattoo heals. Sometimes a few laser sessions would be suggested before scheduling your coverup if the existing design is very dark. Tara prefers to use floral designs for coverups as their freedom of shape and color lend themselves well to hiding an old, undesirable tattoo.
*We do not finish incomplete/ poorly done tattoos by another artist but will cover it with an original, new design.

discussing ideas for future tattoos
The Appointment Request Form is only for booking a tattoo. Unfortunately, due to the number of requests, it is really difficult to discuss ideas that you *might* potentially get one day. If you have no intention on booking your appointment within the next month or so, please revisit when you are ready. This way all of our focus is on current clients, you would like to be treated the same way when it’s your turn! If you would like a consultation, please email email@example.com
Black Dragon Tattoo Company is a safe, welcoming place to get tattooed without judgement. Unfortunately we have heard too many stories of people who have been made seriously uncomfortable by unwanted sexual conversation/questions, requests to remove more clothing than is necessary and even touched inappropriately during tattoo sessions leaving them with not only a negative tattoo experience but loss of trust in the tattoo process altogether. This is a disgrace to the art form, abuse of a position of power and a violation of a human beings right to feel safe. While we do tattoo mostly women, we welcome ALL genders, LGBTQ, non-binary, and all races.
booking artist proposed designs / submitting appointment request forms
When you submit your appointment request form you are expected to be prepared to leave a deposit at the time of booking. When you are interested in booking an artist proposed design you are also expected to leave a deposit. Available appointment times change daily, and sometimes hourly so we prefer to book you as soon as possible to avoid constantly rechecking the schedule to offer different dates in different email communications. Artist proposed projects are first come, first served so if you see something you like, please be prepared with your deposit. Designs are not held without a deposit. Streamlining the booking process is necessary to limit rising costs due to extended non-tattooing work hours.
children in the studio
Tattoo studios are NOT a safe environment for children. There are exposed chemicals, needles in use and nudity. Artists are busy permanently modifying the bodies of paying clientele and do not have the ability to keep an eye on children or deal with distractions. Please arrange for childcare before you come to the studio for any reason. While we love children and even have some of our own, a tattoo studio is not a place for them.
Due to the inherent risks of any non-urgent medical procedure, we do not offer services to anyone currently pregnant. If you become pregnant after booking your appointment, we will hold your deposit for a period of 12 months in order for you to reschedule.
Deposits are accepted through this website via PayPal. The remaining balance of your tattoo is to be paid in CASH at the conclusion of each session.
paying for your tattoo
Cash is the preferred method of payment on all tattoos. This keeps costs down for everyone since we do not need to pass the cost of credit card processing on to our clients. If you are planning a tattoo that is over $500 and would like to use a major credit card / PayPal instead of getting a cash advance, you are welcome to do so. In this case we will charge an additional 5% to cover our processing fees. This ensures the artist is paid in full for their time invested in your project. If your tattoo is multiple session you may pay in full by credit in advance. We accept Amex, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, PayPal credit (you must be approved by PayPal) and H&R Block Emerald Advance. Checks are not accepted.
- Single session pieces: set price with $100 deposit.
- Multi-session pieces: hourly rate with $100 or $300 deposit depending on the size of the project and amount of time booked per session.
With appropriate information provided, you are typically able to be given a ballpark estimate ahead of time. If you have a strict budget, please let us know. However, a strict budget will affect the overall size, and details of your tattoo. Single session pieces typically, but not always, have a set price. Larger, multi-session pieces are charged an hourly rate.
